On The Cover

The Electric Light Shoe is part of a promotional project spearheaded by Freedom of Creation (FOC) and StrawberryFrog with the help of Logic-Light. It was created for the Onitsuka Tiger brand of athletic shoe from ASICS. The illuminated shoe captures the company’s global brand strategy of mixing cultural heritage with the new attitudes of modern-day Japan. The shoe measures three feet long and contains a miniaturization of Tokyo, complete with busy streets and colorful signage. LEDs provide most of the illumination, however, electroluminescent wire is used along the curved sides. Our feature story about the project begins on page 12.
