Jeff Gerwing and Chris Coulter of Detroit-based Smith-Group, Inc. received top honors in the Professional Commercial category for Cooper Lighting’s annual SOURCE Awards. Their renovation of Viseton Village’s world headquarters in Van Buren Twp., Michigan merged several facilities into a single complex comprising nine office and lab buildings.
“The challenge was to meet sustainability lighting solutions for various user groups including engineers, accountants, intensive CAD users, and lab specialists, each with unique lighting needs and preferences,” Gerwing notes.
“ Shown here: Neo-Ray Nimbus indirect/direct fixtures provide the base lighting condition for the open floor plates. They create an undulating appearance on the ceiling “ribbon” and maintain the layered aesthetic. Portfolio compact fluorescent downlights illuminate the transitional spine.
